Final Standings

Congratulations to Pat Culpan on finishing strongly in the last few games, keeping the challengers at bay. In the end it came down to the wire. 1 or 2 extra wickets or a few runs would have seen the top 4 change positions. I reckon that's a great result overall if it came down to being that close. Please send me your bank details so I can pay winnings to Pat, Gary and Geoff. Final standings are as follows:

Pat Culpan 4507
Fox 4477
Gary 4375
Geoff 4231
Tissa 4012
Barty 3987
Gavin 3919
Shane 3814
Scotty 3846
Mitch 3666
Darryl 3544
Porpoise 3225
Martin 3066
Peter 3057
Elliott 2822
Ross 2422
Fox's Mum 2291
David 2070
Liam 2051
Ando 1315

The Dream Team would have been:

Batsmen - Hayden 1516, Ponting 1010, Jayawardene 935
Bowlers - McGrath 1179, Murali 973, Tait 840
All Rounders - Styris 1128, Jayasuriya 1033, Kallis 838
Keepers - Gilchrist 751, Sangakkara 627, Nixon 360
Sloggers - Collingwood 555, Oram 375, Bravo 240
Dud - Anderson 462, Panesar 332, Samuels 294

I suppose it's no real surprise to see Aussies and Sri Lankans finishing on top in most of the top categories. Equally, no surprises to see Poms and West Indies at the top in the Dud category. On a humorous note, it is quite appropriate that our own Richard Anderson finished absolutely stone cold motherless whilst his namesake finished as King of the Duds. Knowing both guys, I can vouch for the fact they share many qualities in common - extravagantly coloured hairstyles (one grey, the other red), frightening pace, fabulous No 11 batsmen and mighty good drinkers.

On a serious note, thanks to David Khan for writing the program that helped me to keep track of the stats. Despite being affllicted by Little Richard syndrome (a condition not usually seen in West Indians but extremely common in Pakistan), he wrote an excellent program that helped me no end. Thanks too to Ross Shaw for setting up the website.

Thanks to everybody for participating. Looking forward to the next World Cup in 2011 already....
